There is no official DEV answer to this problem but trying this solutions has helped few people.

Cap Frame Rate to 30

1. Open Menu and go to Settings then click on Display & Graphics tab.

2. Now change the Frame Rate Cap to 30 FPS.

Load A Previous Save Point

Load a previous save file and try again. If you don't have any save points you can grave one from this Save Files page. (Remember it may not have the items you collected)
